2016 New England USSSA Hall of Fame Team of Distinction 

The legacy of Mike Imbruno, Virginia “Puggy” Cellozzi and Charlie “Chucky” Abbodanza teams of distinction began in 1974.The first team was La Roma (it was Puggy’s hairdressers’ salons name). The team was made up of local girls, whom played in Milford, Ma in the Sunset League. The late great Puggy would recruit players from Milford High School for summer league. In 1977 they became Sava's. In 1978 Mike Imbruno became the sponsor/coach and the team took off from there. The Legacy of Imbruno’s went on to compete in weekend tournaments known as Imbruno’s Painting where they dominated USSSA locally, USSSA regionally and at the USSSA national level for over 15 years.

The core group of women competed with great success, in the early to mid-80’s through 90’s under several sponsors: Imperial/Rizoli Chevrolet, American Athletic Club, Corey Homes, and Royal Construction. They played in a league at Bungay Brook & Sportmans Club Bellingham and competed in the regional’s & nationals every year. Their travels included Ohio, New York, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, California, Connecticut and several cities in Mass. in Leslie's famous “VAN”!
